Name of Candidate:  (I) Dr. Adriana Rocha Garcia

Position running for: City Council District 4

Score:  51.84% Bicycle Friendly

Question 1: "You're driving along and you encounter a person on a bicycle taking up the entire lane. What is your reaction?

A, That's illegal and they should be riding on the sidewalk.

B, Intimidate them so they will learn their place on the roadway.

C, It's okay to hit them with your car, and it's their fault for being in the way.

D, None of the above.

Reason for answer:  I believe that bikers should have the opportunity to enjoy their commute as much as folks driving vehicles. Many times, there is no other alternative for them than to ride in the middle of the lane due to poor road conditions.

Question 2: Running for Council: Will you as a Council Member focus on putting down a Protected Bicycle Lane on the busiest corridor in your district? And what is the busiest corridor in your district?
Yes
Comments:  Potranco Rd.

Question 3:  How should the Linear Creekways be funded, and on which improvement to the Linear Creekway do you want the funds to be spent?
Answer:  There are areas along the Medina that still need to be improved. Additionally, it would be my dream for connections to go through a few of the neighborhood schools connecting to Pearsall Park.

Question 4:  "Do you support increased funds to expand and maintain VIA bus services and routes?"
Yes
Reason for answer:  D4 residents have an average of at least a half hour commute to their places of employment. We need to expand VIA Trans as well since many of our residents have disabilities and about a third of our residents are over 55.

Question 5:  "Should funding for more bicycle lanes and pedestrian safety education be included in the city's annual transportation budget?"
Yes
Reason for Answer:  We need to continue to do whatever we can to promote a healthier environment. Bike lanes are one avenue. During the pandemic, we’ve seen how people have enjoyed their bikes and we need to continue to provide exciting opportunities for them to continue their quest for fitness and the outdoors
