Score:  91.2% Bicycle Friendly

Position running for: City Council District 5

Question 1: "You're driving along and you encounter a person on a bicycle taking up the entire lane. What is your reaction?

A, That's illegal and they should be riding on the sidewalk.

B, Intimidate them so they will learn their place on the roadway.

C, It's okay to hit them with your car, and it's their fault for being in the way.

D, None of the above.

Reason for answer:  You must respect all those that are utilizing the roads. It is important to maintain safe distance for the rider’s safety and your own.

Question 2: Running for Council: Will you as a Council Member focus on putting down a Protected Bicycle Lane on the busiest corridor in your district? And what is the busiest corridor in your district?
Yes
Comments: This could be an ideal way to encourage our community members to become more physically active in District 5. There are some speed bumps in that we still have a long way to go in order to make safe for all drivers, in particular motor vehicles since many roads are needing to be improved. We have many busy corridors, not sure which would be the most ideal, we have cupples down by 90, general McMullen by 90, we have buena vista street near zarzamora, commerce and zarzamora, nogalitos towards 35, Zarzamora towards 90, we also have the area by probandt towards the river access. Some are in place already, butwe may need to reassess.

Question 3:  "How should the Linear Creekways be funded, and on which improvement to the Linear Creekway do you want the funds to be spent?"
Answer: The Linear Creekways has been funded through ⅛¢ sales tax most recently approved by voters in 2015. I have enjoyed the trails and pathways created via pearsall park. I would hope we could look at some greenspace and parks between Cassiano Park and Pearsall Park, the District 5 area is in great need of greenery.

Question 4:  "Do you support increased funds to expand and maintain VIA bus services and routes?"
Yes
Reason for answer: I believe that this on a previous ballot and it is extremely important for the city to provide means of mass transit for our citizens. We must provide reliable and efficient transportation in order to meet the needs of our citizens. This is incredibly true here within District 5 where our citizens utiliza VIA to get to work, appointments, everyday needs, etc.

Question 5:  "Should funding for more bicycle lanes and pedestrian safety education be included in the city's annual transportation budget?"
Yes
Reason for Answer: I believe that this would be helpful in creating a measure of understanding on how we can share the road and do so in a respectful manner. The idea would be to allow for opportunities to encourage cycling as a wellness measure, although many areas within District 5 have been overlooked for years, I would aim in finding support for those resources that are equitable for our community.
