Position running for: City Council District 5

Question 1: "You're driving along and you encounter a person on a bicycle taking up the entire lane. What is your reaction?

A, That's illegal and they should be riding on the sidewalk.

B, Intimidate them so they will learn their place on the roadway.

C, It's okay to hit them with your car, and it's their fault for being in the way.

D, None of the above.

Reason for answer:  Cyclists have the same rights as motorists.

Question 2: Running for Council: Will you as a Council Member focus on putting down a Protected Bicycle Lane on the busiest corridor in your district? And what is the busiest corridor in your district?
Yes
Comments:  Guadalupe, Buena Vista, Culebra, Probandt, Nogalitos

Question 3:  "How should the Linear Creekways be funded, and on which improvement to the Linear Creekway do you want the funds to be spent?"
Answer:  I believe the creeks need to be fully developed as walkable, bikeable areas for our families to better utilize and have outdoor opportunities on the inner Westside and in the Southside. Our community has very few options and this is a necessary investment. I believe using some general funds to increase funding for creekways is important, as well as looking at whether we can create public Investment dollars for some projects, would be key. I also believe working with the San Antonio River Authority and our federal offices to ensure that federal dollars are given to the creek way projects, is extremely important.

Question 4:  "Do you support increased funds to expand and maintain VIA bus services and routes?"
Yes
Reason for answer: District 5 owns the least number of cars. If we do not increase bus lines, then we decrease our community members’ ability to travel around the city and pursue their education, better jobs or other experiences.

Question 5:  "Should funding for more bicycle lanes and pedestrian safety education be included in the city's annual transportation budget?"
Yes
Reason for Answer:   Multiple modes of mobility allow for lower emissions, better health outcomes and diversifying the transportation sector of the economy, which can lead to more jobs.  These lanes also provide the ability for our community members that rely on wheelchairs to get around, safe lanes to travel.
