All Transportation Requires WELFARE, Always Has / Part III Why Transportation sucks in America

Update:  Virgin has since got out of the Brightline deal.  In Part I , I went over the results of us having the transportation built for you to consume as much oil as possible. In Part II , I pointed out how the propaganda is there to convince you that driving is the best thing since sliced bread. Now in Part III, I explain how all Transportation Requires Welfare for we as a society don't believe in this reality.  Like the title says, all transportation requires welfare and always has needed subsidies of some form or another. People don’t understand this nor want to understand that for the whole of civilization, all transportation requires some form of welfare. The reason why we don’t accept this reality is because we hold onto the myth that it’s the private sector’s job to provide transportation services which omits the fact that the infrastructure that the private sector uses to earn money on is built and paid for by governments. So how did we get here believing ...

Why I don't talk about National Politics or Climate Change.

Image
As a rule, I left out the topics of climate change and political parties of my blog because I found that it was a turn off to potential allies. When you told a Political Party Members the truth that their political party did this to transportation, you were met with utter disbelief. I met Democrats who fought that public transit was a waste of money and everybody would be better for everyone if the government brought cars. On the flip side, I met Republicans who said that we need a commuter train to Floresville. According to other Democrats and Republicans when told about this they told me that this wasn't possible, that my chain was being pulled. Climate change is different. If you make a mention that you believed in it, the people who say that it's a conspiracy theory just shut you off and vice versa. And People are wondering where I sit on the fence, which political party that I vote for.  I'm not sorry to say that I don't care about your party membership, I care abo...

All the aatblog.com Articles that I Managed to Save.

My paychecks are small and the annual $80 fee to pay to keep the Wordpress site alive is something I cannot afford. Covid-19 pretty much put the blog on hold except for a story here or there.  Well as a truck driver, it's my job to get stuff to the stores. This job keeps me very busy and because of that, Covid-19 made logistics a nightmare. You see this every time you go to the grocery store. And a true story here, because of the toilet paper shortage, I became Driver of the Month for my company.  I would like to thank all of you for making that possible.  In the end, all this truck driving takes a toll on my writing leaving me with little free time to write, ride bicycles and trains.   Below are all the wordpress articles that I managed to save.  Lately, I've been regaining my itch to write again so if the Universe allows, I'll have more blog posts to publish soon.  Saved: A change to aatblog:  https://aatblog.com/2019/03/02/a-change-to-att...

Shelter Bus Stops & Comparing San Antonio to other cities.

Image
About yesterday (Sept 12, 20216), I decided to respond to a tweet from D2 Councilman Jalen McKee-Rodriguez.  Even though it's on Twitter and it's a very long Twitter thread, I feel that others need to read it.  Instead of sharing the entire twitter thread, I've decided to turn it into a blog post.  On Sept 10, 2021, Councilman Jalen McKee-Rodriguez tweeted the following :  Tweet 1 My response to this tweet is a very lengthy one .  But lets get started.  Tweet 2 Tweet 3 I've seen better bus stop shelters in "other cities." So far the bus shelters that I've seen do the job right is the standard model that is used by Trinity Metro and DART in the DFW area.  Tweet 4 Tweet 6 The Pictures are of the bus stops on 3rd st between Houston and Ave E and the other is on Houston St between I-10 and E Commerce.  Although they don't do a good job at showing a bus stop located on a narrow sidewalk, they do shows VIA attempt to put seats down.  Tw...

Not Surprised - Tito's Killer May Walk

Image
The news hit where it hurts, but it was no surprise to me. A car has more rights than you or I walking or bicycling. It's a conclusion that I sadly came to years ago.  This possible latest ruling simply proves my point and here's why we shouldn't be angry at it.     Images 2021/4/26-1 I have a question for all my readers. How do you get to work?  If your asnwer was "by car" then then question I have for you is why?  Why was your first answers "by car" and not walking, not using VIA and finally, not using your bicycle for it says a lot on why people drive drunk and yet we're angry about someone driving home drunk.   My point is this:  As long as you cannot imagine getting home a different way other than driving, then we as a society shouldn't complain about drunk driving for how are people going to get home after getting drunk?  Yes I can hear my readers scream Uber, Lyft and a taxi cab, but how many people have money for those options o...

🚳Anti-Cycling Candidates🚳 The Lessons I've Learned

Image
After doing this Voter's Guide Survey for the city council elections for two elections now and a failed attempt in 2015 , I can safely say that I figured out how to properly evaluate, and figure out who's Anti-Cycling in San Antonio. But I didn't learn these lessons overnight, it literally took three city council elections to figure it all out. Those lessons are: Time:   If you thinking that all it took to complete this was 10 minutes, then you would be wrong. It took missing bike rides, weekends and available free time. The reason why the cut off date was put back wasn't because the lack of responses but because work and life in general made it so that I had to push the deadline back from March 27 to April 2.  This is the reason why during this election I started to limited my reaching out to only those candidates who have one of either a Facebook page, a Twitter handle or a website. My time is a valuable commodity and not having a website that can be found after googl...
